Ecuadorian National Garcian Phalanx /(Falange Nacional Garciana
Ecuatoriana)/ was a minor short-lived Phalangist group from Ecuador,
whose existence seems to have been recorded only in a list of Latin
American Phalangist movements which was available at the site of The
Phalanx /(La Falange)/, a minor Phalangist party ffrom Spain. Although
no link to a website of theirs was given there, an e-mail address was
given instead, so the flag image must have been based on info obtained
through a direct contact with the Ecuadorian source. The flag was a
blue-red-blue vertical triband with black yoke and arrows on red
field. While the general design was derived from the flag of Spanish
Phalanx, the color set is peculiar by its inclusion of blue, which was
certainly chosen as the flag of Phalangist shirts, thus producing a
flag with unique design, but still easily recognizable as a Phalangist
symbol.

On August 4, former Ecuadorian President Lucio Gutiérrez was
shown on the Colombian TV news channel RCN. On the background
one can see the flag (on his
right side) of the Partido Sociedad Patriótica (PSP), later
renamed Partido Sociedad Patriótica 21 de Enero (January 21
Patriotic Society Party).
This political party is led by his brother, Gilmar Gutierrez and
it is based on a protest carried out against the government of
then President Jamil Mahuad on January 21, 2000.
